Robert Curts, a noted Hannibal businessman and entrepreneur


Robert A. Curts, in a photo accompanying his biography in "Mirror of Hannibal." Note that his teeth are visible when he's smiling. Virtually all of the photos in this book, which was published in 1905, feature men and women with their lips pursed together. During this early day of dentistry, individuals smiled with their mouths closed for photographs, in order to conceal troubling teeth.
