Marion County transplants attend reunions in Los Angeles in 1937



Among the former Marion County, Mo., residents attending a picnic in Los Angeles, Calif., in the fall of 1937 was Thomas O'Donnell, who with his brother, Robert, established the O'Donnell Bros., funeral home in Hannibal. Marion County picnic held in Los Angeles

The annual spring picnic of Marion mountains now in California was held Sunday, May 16, in Los Angeles. The day was delightfully spent and it was a very joyous occasion for people formerly living here to get together again.

California picnic largely attended

The Spectator is indebted to Geo. M. Rottweiler of San Pedro, Calif., who has forwarded the list of names of those who attended the Marion County Picnic which was given in Los Angeles last Sunday, Oct. 17. Mr. Rothweiler writes that a bountiful dinner was served by the ladies and speeches were made by Judge T.J. Crane of this county who has been visiting in California for the last six weeks, and by M. Rothweiler of Palmyra who is at present in the western state. Dr. F.M. Harrison, formerly of Palmyra, was also on he speaking program. Dr. Harrison practiced dentistry here for a number of years before going to California. He retired several years ago.

George M. Rottweiler is president of the organization planning the picnics.
