1992: Chris Coons: Contributing to the community where she lived

During my journalism career I've interviewed so many people; telling so many stories. Now, as I prepare to retire, these many stories are coming to mind.

For example, in 1992 I wrote a food feature on Chris Coons. I recently came across a clipping as I was cleaning out my files. She was a very generous benefactor, her family contributing to the growth of Hannibal's hospital and YMCA.

Chris was a kind and compassionate woman, who added to the community's moral and humanitarian infrastructure. I'm richer for having met her.
