I've been poking around on the internet today in search of information about the fad from the 1920s and 1930s regarding dance marathons. I learned that there was in Hannibal in 1930, and I even know who won the marathon by dancing for more than 1,800 hours. This will be a good story when I get it all pulled together. The event was at the Rose Garden. Please, if you have heard any details about this event, shoot me an email. I read they were also known as walkathons. I gather they were somewhat of a scam, but a form of cheap entertainment during the Depression years.
