Bowles Clothiers: Thriving Hannibal business, 1904

J.J. Bowles Clothiers was located at 119-121 South Main in downtown Hannibal. This photo was taken in 1904 and Johnny Bowles, owner of the store, is pictured second from the left. This is a reprint from the Aug. 26, 1976 edition of the Hannibal Courier-Post.

1905 City directory lists two employees:

John H. Griffin (wife Sybil) clerk at John J. Bowles, lives at 210 Hope Street

E. Frank Murphy, clerk John J. Bowles, lives at 704 Church

John J. Bowles lived at 300 N. Seventh
