A day well spent at Oakwood Elementary

I was a substitute teacher at Oakwood Elementary School on Monday, filling in for the PE coach. I'm trying to keep up with my committment to post something historic on this site every day, but after doing floor exercises with the little tots this afternoon, I'm pretty much exhausted tonight.

Since the Oakwood staff and students were so welcoming to me today, here's a tidbit on the successful Hannibal election that made this wonderful school possible.

The clipping is from the Moberly Monitor in 1957. When the building was complete, the new junior high and Oakwood facilities served as sites for the city-wide polio vaccine. I remember that! Do you?
