1949 bride
Delorise Vark became the bride of Otis F. Howell on Feb. 13, 1949, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Hannibal. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.F. Vark, 206 North Sixth Street. Howell is the son of Mrs. Dolly Bailey, 1706 Chestnut Street, all of Hannibal.
Vark and Howell both worked for the Hannibal Courier-Post at the time of their marriage. Vark was the first female circulation director for the newspaper, and Howell worked in circulation, and was a long-time photographer for the newspaper. His photos, catalogued by Steve Chou, are a valuable resource for Hannibal historians, chronicling the town's day to day existence in the 1950s-1970s.
