Scene of famed murder

The Stillwell house, 112 S. Fifth, Hannibal, Mo., was the scene of Amos Stillwell's murder in December 1888. Stillwell, among the wealthiest and most influential residents of Hannibal, was killed with an ax while he slept. His murder was never solved.

In the year 2000, Chase Hickman, a Hannibal attorney, edited a previously written book about the sensational murder, added footnotes and provided it in a digital format that is available via the Hannibal Free Public Library's website.
