Marie Bastian remembers long-ago Hannibal parades

Marie Bastian, at the age of 92, found particular interest in this parade picture from 1939. When she was in first grade, circa 1928, her father, Leslie Deason, had an insurance company office on the second story of a building in the 600 block of Broadway. In this photo, it is the building with the curved second story window. She vividly remembers sitting in that window alcove and watching parades. She doesn't get out often these days, she told me, and was thrilled to see this picture published in the Courier-Post, which was contributed by Steve Chou. These stories warm my heart.
